Entry from: Bintan, Indonesia Entry Title: "Bintan, Indonesia" Entry: "Off again. I mentioned this island to Les and we ended up going there with Jodi & Volker. Fantastic day trip! Best beach I've seen since Railay (Krabi) in Thailand! We hopped in cab and went to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Bought our RT tix and got on the Bintan Resort Ferry. We happened to be on the slow boat--only one engine--so the trip took about 75 minutes. I think I talked myself into being seasick. Thankfully, I found the security to talk with and he told me to sit in the back of the boat at its center of gravity. It helped a little. On the way there, Malaysia is on your left and Batam Island (also Indonesian) is on your right. Batam is where the IMF/WB protestors are headed. Clearly, you don't want to protest in Singapore! We landed at the resort and found a guide to quickly take us out of the resort and around the island. It's gorgeous. Our first stop was a local beach called Tri Kora. Huts on the sand (Jodi's spot) and fishing nets in the water. There was also a group of school kids there, having fun throwing each other into the ocean. The water was quite salty and warm. Volker had his snorkeling gear. Les and I swam/walked out to these rocks. I cut myself on the coral and my eyes stung the whole time! Totally worth it. I ...
